WiFi Offloading



This is our system(s) for energy-efficient data offloading under WiFi environment. Our system is based on the observation that practical data transmission deadline requirement and link utilization allows scheduling of data traffic to time periods with good link quality. We implement the system as a cross-layer App on Android system, which exploits link variation, user habits and data requirement to save transmission cost. The prototype of our system has been tested on three Android platforms in the wild for three weeks. Experimental results show that our system can save over 20% transmission energy cost and is fully compatible with current Android platforms.
